Borrowed
There’s no rubric for life. It’s trial and error.
Life doesn’t send warnings. It doesn’t tap you on the shoulder before it leaves. Sometimes, it just stops.
As I’ve come to understand this, I’ve learned to stop waiting until I’m ready. I’ve stopped assuming I have time, because I’ve realized that every second we live is borrowed, every breath is on loan, and the debt we owe is to life itself.
If our time is borrowed, shouldn’t we spend it well?
I’ve lost people I love. I’ve caused pain to people I wish I hadn’t. There were moments when I was blindsided by my own actions—moments I wish I could take back.
But one important thing I’ve learned about the things that cause us pain comes down to this: growth is very rarely about getting that one magical thing you think you need. More often, it’s about eliminating the things you don’t.
Letting go doesn’t mean the past didn’t matter. The past was everything. It was your lessons. It was your path. It shaped you into who you are.
But what got you here won’t necessarily get you there.
Choosing less means you’re no longer choosing to live in yesterday. You’re not betraying who you were. You’re making peace with who you’ve been so that you can become who you’re meant to be.
