Fam-Time

Well peeps, Christmas is almost here—what is it, three days away already? 🎄 Getting up early to pick up my folks from the airport was probably more than I could chew 😴. The night before was a busy one, and I didn’t crawl into bed until pretty late. Somehow, some way, I caught a random burst of energy and ended up tossing and turning, trying to find a rhythm to fall asleep. I think I managed maybe four or five hours of shuteye.

Even three cups of coffee and Starbucks couldn’t do the trick 🤦🏻‍♂️. I’ll definitely be sneaking in a nap soon because my mind is running on empty. But honestly, it’s all worth it. The best part is getting to be with my parents—I miss em dearly. There will be loads of laughter, deep conversations, and an absurd amount of food 🤪.

I love my folks and I’m grateful to be physically together again for another year. I plan to make the most of every moment before they head back. And of course, I’ll do my part as an uncle by making my sister’s life just a little harder—feeding her kids sugary meals, high caffeinated drinks, and endless desserts 😈. Sorry not sorry sis 🤪.

The photo above isn’t actually from the Portland flight—there was zero light, so that was a no 😂. It’s from my flight back from Cancun in August, but it felt right for the moment and context purposes. Still can’t believe my mom was up at 3 a.m. just to make this trip. Then again, this is the same woman who’d rather camp out at the gate two hours early than risk a last-minute sprint 🤣✈️.

Since this blog lives in the familia realm, it felt right to share another family-style moment from my part-time gig. Around my birthday, we all came together to honor the Mexico team. Everyone showed up in gold jerseys, and for a moment it felt less like work and more like family. We gathered in, laughed, celebrated, and captured it all with a group photo—one of those simple moments that ends up meaning the most. Orale…
